About Jamie

Interests

I was born in Australia but grew up in St-Ives where I now have a house and workshop in the nearby countryside.

My passions are surfing and creating useful objects out of interesting materials. I have served a long apprenticeship to the masters which are these materials.

What interests me is the focus on making something to be purely raw and functional but at the same time the way in which this adds to its own asthetics.I strive to produce a product which would be at home in an art gallery or beneath the heaviest waves in the world.

Past History

I worked as a freelance pattern maker for nearly a decade. During this time I was commissioned by 'The Monoposto Collection' to produce a range of 50's and 60's Grand Prix racing car models for world-wide collectors. The sell-out limited edition models were hand built by myself from scratch and were purchased by Mercedes for gifts to company directors and ferrari for gifts to valued customers. They are also displayed in Ferrari's own museum in Italy and at the British Racing Drivers Club at Silverstone.

The cars were 1-8th scale and included: C Type Jaguar, Low-drag coupe E-Type Jaguar, Cut 7 E-Type Jaguar, Lightweight E-Type Jaguar, Jaguar XJR15, Aston Martin DBR1, Mercedes Benz W125, Ferrari 500, Ferrari Sharksnose, Ferrari 330 P4, Porsche 917, Porsche Type 64, BRM P261, Lotus 25, a landspeed record prototype car and Damon Hill's FW18 in 1-4th scale.
